Throughout the course of my work in business, professional development and continuous improvement and design I have come back to the need to identify clear business objectives from the start of any new initiative.

A needs or gap analysis can help to drive out the root causes for where an organization is and where it wants to be. Once business objectives are identified, the rest of the solutions design process become much more seamless.
